Inspiration is found in many places and art seeks out other art.
Originally written in Chinese by my father, Ooi Ah Bah (黄基涵), this poem is intended to accompany a piece of art by the Malaysian artist, Hui Mei (慧美). The art, original Chinese poem and the English poem I wrote are here.

Yellow blooms of the finest petals
Perfection as the leaves on the earth settles
Clear waters flow, gently guiding the unassuming
Little shimmers of silver swimming
As nature performs a colour show to behold
More beautiful than any fairy-tale told
The unbelieving may rub their eyes
To find that in our world, this lies
