It’s the second of November and what have I done for NaNoWriMo? The most important thing, of course… I have created my book cover, added a synopsis and an excerpt. Yay me. Feel free to visit my NaNoWriMo profile and add me as a buddy if you feel so inclined.
There has been some crazy energy coming from NaNoWriMo participants who have been churning out a high number of words already, and I am feeling both scared and inspired. With the number of people in the world participating, I can’t help but feel that, if others can do it, surely I can too. So, I am taking away just optimistic thoughts at the moment.
I am glad to report that I have also managed to talk a friend into doing NaNoWriMo… and we have agreed to constantly badger each other into writing. I shall let you know if this method is successful, or just annoying. Either way, I need all the encouragement/badgering I can get right now.
I have found that it does not really help to read other participants’ works whilst writing as it seems to be a source of distraction. It is enough to know of the other people’s progress, I think. Reading will have to wait until December arrives, as we all start to surface from our writing fog.
So, today is plotting day as I try and make sense of the storyline that I have created, arranging it into chapters, breaking down events and characters. Once that is done, the writing will hopefully flow, like a river released from its dam.
Wish me luck! *gulp*
